KUCHING: Denmark sees Sarawak as a potential partner in various sectors, especially in line with the state's commitment to the energy transition and sustainable development agenda.

The Ambassador of Denmark to Malaysia, Kirstine Vangkilde Berner, said that Denmark is excited to explore and further strengthen bilateral cooperation with Sarawak, especially in the field of green technology.

“We have a strong presence in Denmark through our companies with extensive experience and a long tradition in green technology from green hydrogen, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to carbon capture technology.

“We understand the entire value chain in this industry and believe there is great potential to be utilised together. So, we are very excited to be here and hope that this cooperation can be continued and strengthened,” she said.

She said this to the media after paying a courtesy call on Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg at the Satria Pertiwi Complex, here, on Thursday.

Kirstine added that education was also among the main topics discussed, with Denmark expressing its willingness to support Sarawak’s education aspirations and plans.

She also shared that Denmark is also interested in exploring opportunities in the fields of aerospace and artificial intelligence (AI), which are now the main drivers of global economic development.

During the meeting, Kirstine also extended an official invitation to the Sarawak Premier to visit Denmark, as another step to strengthen bilateral relations and further bolster the identified potential for cooperation.

Also present was the Director of the Sarawak Regional Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, Fenny Nuli. -UKASnews
