1. What is the role of the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Sustainability (MEESTY)?

The Ministry is responsible for overseeing and implementing Sarawak’s policies on energy development, renewable energy initiatives, environmental and sustainability. It plays a key role in shaping Sarawak’s green economy and supporting the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.

The Ministry is led by the Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability, currently Premier of Sarawak, The Right Honourable Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari Bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg. The Minister is supported by a Deputy Minister, The Honourable Datuk Dr. Hazland Abang Hipni and our Permanent Secretary, The Honourable Datu Abang Ahmad Abang Morni with a team of senior officers and experts.

Yes. MEESTY regularly runs public awareness campaigns, workshops, and school programs to educate the public on sustainable living, climate change, and conservation efforts.

Absolutely. MEESTY works closely with:
